Accident Injuries: Questions & Answers

What types of cases do you take?

Our Accident Lawyer, Herbert Thornbury represent clients in Tennessee for all types of personal injury cases, including victims of:

What if I am partly responsible for my injuries?

Depending on the circumstances of your case, you may be able to recover compensation for your injuries, even if you are found partly responsible.

If the court finds that you are in part responsible, you can still receive compensation from your own insurance company, and/or from other responsible parties as well.

How do I determine who is responsible for my damages?

Every case is different, but depending on the circumstances, you may be able to receive compensation from any number of parties, including individuals directly involved in your accident and their insurers, as well as any commercial entities involved, including employers, owners, operators, and manufacturers of faulty equipment.

How can you help me get fair compensation for my injuries?

If we accept your case, we will identify and aggressively pursue any parties involved who may share liability for your injuries. It is our ultimate goal to get you every bit of the compensation that is owed you for the damages you've suffered.

I've been given an offer of settlement. It looks pretty good, but they're threatening to withdraw it if I take too long to consider it or consult an attorney. Should I risk it?

Most of the time, any offer the responsible parties make is an attempt to save them money. The threat of withdrawing the offer is a tactic used to make you sign without thinking. Don't fall for it. Consult an Accident Lawyer right away.

My insurance company has hired a lawyer to represent me. Isn't that good enough?

When you are sued as a result of an accident, your insurance company may be required to provide you with legal representation. In many cases, this may be sufficient.

However, while the attorney appointed to you does represent you for purposes of the suit against your insurance policy, he or she may not be able to represent you in other aspects of your case, including your claims against others or against your own insurance company.

Further, the attorney your insurance company hires for you may not always be the one you would choose. We believe that everyone deserves to be represented by an experienced and knowledgeable lawyer who can represent all of their interests. And remember that attorney will be loyal to the insurance company and not necessarily to you. Most of the time, your interests in these cases will be the same, but sometimes it may be in the insurance company's best interest to expose you to liability if it protects them.

What if I can't afford a lawyer after my loss?

We generally work on contingency, which means that we are not paid until we successfully conclude your case, and only as a percentage of the award.

Although expenses are separate from our fees, we will advance you the cost of those fees until after the case is resolved.
